Summary: FarCry InstallShield wizard cannot be completed Product: Wine Version: 0.9.55. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: jimportal@gmail.com
FarCry InstallShield wizard cannot be completed due to an unpopulated tree control. The control under Windows XP allows components to be selected for installation. In Wine, no components show up in the list and therefore no components can be selected and the installation cannot continue. Selecting the "Next" button brings up a message box which tells you to "Please select at least one language pack!".

Don't run apps this way, cd to the directory first.

--- Comment #8 from Nicolas eredar@gmail.com 2008-03-25 05:22:02 --- It is true that for some people the loki installer is an acceptable solution for the Far Cry problem. It might even be that the auto-population of TreeViews is an asinine windows quirk. Some might even think that it would seriously damage the cleanliness of the current code for TreeViews.
But unfortunately, it's still there, and compatibility with windows also means compatibility with the stupid things. Maybe that's the most frustrating about developing for WINE. Yet I'm glad so many talented developers are willing to do it. Thanks for that!
P.S.: From the things I've been reading in AppDB it seems that if the installer is fixed to run perfectly, then Far Cry itself might also run problemlessly on WINE (from installation to game finish), which would for all intents and purposes be awesome.
If you fix this in the near-future or not: thanks WINE developers, you made me spend 95% of the time in Linux and only 5% in windows, instead of an expected 50% (I really like my games and UltraVNC). Pretty soon that will be 100% for linux, and it will be mostly thanks to you, that I will never have to do anything at all in Vista or succesors.
