This started occurring a couple of days ago, running on a wine 1.x version. I upgraded to Wine 3.0-rc1 and here is the log from the terminal window. Note that the last few lines, starting with 0043:fixme:win:UnregisterDeviceNotification (handle=0xcafeaffe), STUB! take place minutes after it locks up, after I click on the close window button.

--- Comment #3 from bart kus b4rtspamm@gmail.com --- i tested it with wine 4.0 a few months ago and it's broken there too. If i remember correctly diablo 2 lod tries to load 1 of 3 libraries and they have A, B and C in their names or something like that. it happens when battle.net menu shows up and because wine is unable to load those weird libraries everything crashes. For a short time it was enough to delete them but blizzard has patched this hole.
