I would like to remove my email
from the Bugzilla application.

If you can't hide email adresses,
could you delete my account
and also delete my email adress from all the web pages ?

This is a fairly common request, and I'm seeing it more often.

It's been discussed previously,

but nothing was done.

Other sites have done something like this; see

We should make the effort.  Just saying "That's 
not how Bugzilla works" is not an option; several
large Bugzilla installations have shown that
Bugzilla can indeed hide email addresses
better than we currently do.

Jerome,

If you want to remove your email from the system, I think all you have to do is
change it in your preferences.

Otherwise, yes I agree with Dan, something should be done.

So, here's my proposed patch which does not show email addresses to users
unless logged in, for pages like this (reporter, assigned to and CC) and search
results.

FYI, the redhat bugzilla has the following behavior:

If you're not logged in, then don't show any email addresses, only names. The
CC field is hidden.

Once you login, you see email addresses next to the name, as well as the CC
list.

I think the email addresses should be masked also for the users which are
authenticated.

Basically, a pirat can create an account and grab all the email addresses
he/she wants.

I received 168 spams within the latest 24 hours.

I think this bug is critical.

If you decide it is a low priority it is an other question but you can't tell
that this bug is just major :
168 spams requires me about half an hour in order to process them from my junk
folder in order to report them to spamcomplaint, spamcop.net, signal-spam.fr,
etc.

My time isn't free. I'm harmed by this bug.

Are you sure they come from your account at wine bugzilla? I get 0 spam
messages. And by 0 I mean none at all. Ever. I still have no clue about how
that's even possible, but it's true.

If you don't receive Spam then there was no attempt. Basically, your mail
server can filter your email by using black lists of nets. On my side, the
current mail service provider I'm using or any alternative I could use don't
use those black lists. Thus I receive most of the spam attempts.

Direct requests to bugzilla. It does not obfuscate e-mail addresses for

I see, it's something added in 3.4 and we are still using 3.2.3. Will try to

Severity does not depend on how important it is _to you_. It represents how
much it affects functionality, in this case of bugzilla. Sorry, but it _DOES

Here is the "critical" severity definition:
"Critical problem that prevents all applications from working"

For many users, spam prevent them to user their computer for many minutes per
days because they have to process and report Spam.

In my case I spend about half an hour per day in order to properly process my
spam. Thus I can't use my computer during half an hour per day.

FYI, I will stop using the WineHq Bugzilla application because any logged user
can easily tell a robot to grab email adresses, including mine.

I think an email address should always be a Bugzilla internal in order to
communicate between the bugzilla servers and the user.
