Bug ID: 52883 Summary: Improve support for high-level graphic settings in The Settlers: Heritage of Kings Product: Wine Version: 7.7 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: Markus.Elfring@web.de Distribution: ---
Created attachment 72267 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=72267 screenshot for a questionable display of graphic settings
I wonder why I get hindered so far to switch the graphic settings to the highest quality (which my hardware could support). How will the software capabilities evolve further also for the game “The settlers (gold edition)” after the software “Wine 7.7-1449.4”?

--- Comment #1 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com --- Could you explain what exactly is the problem with this game? And where did you get a wine build called "Wine 7.7-1449.4"?

Could you explain what exactly is the problem with this game?
I would like to configure graphic settings for maximum quality.
And where did you get a wine build called "Wine 7.7-1449.4"?

--- Comment #3 from Artem S. Tashkinov aros@gmx.com --- Can you speak English, bro, seriously?
What does it mean "I wonder why I get hindered so far to switch the graphic settings to the highest quality (which my hardware could support)"?
My English is really good I guess and I've no effing clue what you meant.
This is not how you file bug reports or feature requests.
questionable display of graphic settings
What do you mean by "questionable display"?
A proper bug report would be:
"Under Windows the game allows me to select these resolutions: A B C D E
Under Wine I only see/can get C D E.
My distro is: Ubuntu XX.XX My graphics drivers are: full version + Mesa version Here's my xrandr output:
Please fix".
You do NOT waste developers time trying to write like you're a Shakespeare, ok?
People need to understand exactly and with zero effort what your issue and what your environment are.

There's no need to be so aggressive.

Under Wine I only see/can get C D E.
Would you like to take another look at details from the attached screenshot? https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=72267
Would you expect support for the screen resolution “1920 x 1080” (or even bigger ones for example)? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_common_resolutions
My distro is: …
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/openSUSE%3AFactory/wine
My graphics drivers are: …
* Mesa 22.0.2-308.2 * x11-video-nvidiaG05 470.103.01-52.3
Corresponding support is still evolving for involved software components, isn't it?

Do you see different resolutions list when running this game on Windows?

--- Comment #7 from Markus Elfring Markus.Elfring@web.de --- (In reply to Nikolay Sivov from comment #6) I can not compare the graphic display situation with a current Windows installation version at the moment.
Do other software users observe support for the graphic quality maximum?

--- Comment #8 from Sven Grewe svgr@posteo.de --- Created attachment 75621 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=75621 Graphics settings in Wine 8.0.2
I can reproduce this issue in Wine 8.0.2 from WineHQ using Ubuntu 23.10. I don't get this issue when I install DXVK however.
I don't get this problem in the current development release wine-9.0-rc1 with/without DXVK.
