--- Comment #7 from Xavier Vachon xvachon@gmail.com 2010-10-21 09:51:26 CDT --- I have the DVD version of Borderlands as well, and I usually skip the installation of these resources by copying the contents of the DVD to my HDD, deleting the extra software and installing the components manually with winetricks if they are really necessary. Most of the software (eg. PhysX) is outdated anyway.
Unless a dev disagrees with what I do, I suggest that you try this to install the game.

--- Comment #10 from AJSB ajsb@vfemail.net 2012-10-07 23:13:56 CDT --- Xavier, You are doing it wrong...
I don't think that you can remove the prerequisites folder in this game or it will likely fail...installer will try to install them anyway...
I managed to install this game in WINE 1.4.1 but installer fails in WINE 1.5.14

Check my posts in bugs:
From my experience, most installers will display an error message when that
happens but the install will continue anyways. Very few installers actually exited upon an error of not finding a DirectX or VC redist setup. This is relevant in the case of testing if the built-in extensions of wine can run the game, but for the plain user experience, this is irrelevant to them.
I now have the GOTY version of Borderlands, I will test it again soon.
