Summary: .NET 2.0 not installable due to repeating RegSvcs.exe crashings Product: Wine Version: 1.1.30 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: winecreations@trashmail.net
Created an attachment (id=23913) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=23913) Output of console issued the command "winetricks dotnet20".
Let´s do it quick ´n dirty:
System used: OpenSuse 11.1 (x86_64) Wine version: 1.1.30
Failure: The .NET-installer hangs itself when RegSvcs.exe crashes. Out of the blue pops a new window from the wine debugger telling that apocalypse has come. The installation window itself does not show any progress at all, but rather stays there.
I´ve talked to some people on the wine IRC about this - and YES I´ve used a CLEAN wineprefix, deleted winetrickscache multiple times and re-installing wine completely won´t help either. Either way, all people keep telling me they can´t reproduce the error, but it´s there.
Also installing with command "LANG=C winetricks dotenet20" did not help a bit. Would you please take a CLOSE look at the error log and tell me what is wrong?
Thank you for your efforts.

Where else should I report it, Lady? Please tell me what was wrong instead of just saying "Don´t report this here".

--- Comment #5 from Sven septim.dt@gmail.com 2009-10-04 15:28:07 --- winetricks is not wine. Bugs in winetricks shouldn't be posted here.

--- Comment #7 from sl@shback winecreations@trashmail.net 2009-10-04 15:37:24 --- Nope, please let this bug open. I just retried with command "wine dotnet20.exe" and the installer now tells it has "sucessfully" completed, but certainly RegSvcs.exe crashed again before.
Attached a new output of console.

Actually installed using setting win 2000. I´ll recheck.

Rechecked. Interestingly RegSvcs.exe DOES NOT crash anymore, but the installer itself reports that it could not complete due to some error.
I´ll attach another log in the other thread then.

--- Comment #12 from sl@shback winecreations@trashmail.net 2009-10-04 15:56:07 --- Used .NET installer without winetrcicks and RegSvcs.exe doesn´t crash anymore. The installer crashes though. Therefore, this emerges to be a bug duplicate.
