The quick tabs screen in IE8 is supposed to show a small preview image of the
page currently loaded in each tab underneath its title, but instead it shows a
blank box with the IE logo. Steps to reproduce:

1. winetricks ie8
2. Start IE and open a new tab
3. Enter the quick tabs page with ctrl+Q or the button to the left of the tab
bar

Workaround: winetricks gdiplus

GdipCreateBitmapFromHBITMAP is implemented for 16-bit bitmaps now, so that
should solve one of the fixme's in your log. Any improvement in wine 1.5.1?

Sorry for the delay... I've rechecked with wine-1.5.2-144-gbd3a941, and the
previews are now visible (albeit with some rendering issues).
