Trying to run Alpha Centauri Expansion

All that comes out of "wine TERRANX.EXE" is:
X Error of failed request:  GLXBadDrawable
  Major opcode of failed request:  154 (GLX)
  Minor opcode of failed request:  5 (X_GLXMakeCurrent)
  Serial number of failed request:  518
  Current serial number in output stream:  518

Intel graphics card, same result with 2.6.30 or 2.6.28 (stock) kernels..  At
least starts to run on 8.10 (wine 1.01).  Regression?

It works when using WINEDEBUG=+relay wine TERRANX.EXE >& ac.out

It ONLY works when both using +relay AND using error redirection... Weird.

Which I find annoying because it is the one instance I don't care about getting
an output from :).
It's attached as ac.working just in case it is helpful.

Apparently it works if you clear you .wine/ directory after every time you run
it..

I foolishly tested a bunch of releases before realizing that.. so I can tell
you that it is the same on 1.0.1

Any ideas?

With 2.6.31-r1 (ubuntu vanilla kernels) it changes slightly too:

It was either fixed, or it was a hardware/driver issue with my previous
machine.
Previous machine had an Intel video driver, current machine uses nVidia 185xx
