I learned that wine looks in many directories for ttf fonts.
/usr/share/wine/fonts
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/fonts

and whatever others. I copied tahoma.ttf to all the directories (one of them
had to be the right one) and it worked.

I advise all to copy it in every directory wine searches.
