Bug ID: 53561 Summary: Command and Conquer 3 Kane's Wrath Installer fails during component selection. Product: Wine Version: 7.15 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: hibbsncc1701@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 72925 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=72925 +msi log of CNC3 Kane's Wrath install attempt.
When installing the game in Advanced install type mode (to change the destination install directory) the installer fails to continue past the component selection screen, displaying the error: "At least one language pack must be selected"
The default component selection includes the language pack, and even deselecting and re-selecting it does not fix the error. Making the installer unable to proceed.
This can be worked around by using the "Recommended" install type, but that means the user must manually change the game's installation directory after the game is installed.
It should also be noted that changing the install directory causes the installer to display "_BrowseProperty" as the selected path after closing the folder selection dialog.
The original game Command and Conquer 3 also has the same installer bug.
An +msi log is attached.

--- Comment #1 from Patrick Hibbs hibbsncc1701@gmail.com --- Created attachment 72926 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=72926 +msi Command and Conquer 3 recommended setup type log
As a small update to the previous info, the recommended setup type doesn't work for the original game Command and Conquer 3. The installer simply reports a failure message after attempting to copy files, with no registry entries being created. (Which also means that updating the game with the official patcher won't work, as it needs the registry keys.)

--- Comment #2 from Ken Sharp imwellcushtymelike@gmail.com --- This looks like Bug 7902 but it may have regressed slightly, creating a new issue.
However, with Wine 9.6 I don't get an option to change the directory, or indeed anything, during setup. Can you confirm that this is still an issue? (Or maybe I'm seeing something new)

That is probably a different bug and should be logged separately. I'd do it but I can't the disc.

Ignore that, I do.

--- Comment #4 from Patrick Hibbs hibbsncc1701@gmail.com --- In wine-9.6, hitting the back button on the component selection dialog causes the selected installation folder (if changed previously) to be displayed properly with the selected folder. This can be done repeatedly, so the installation path issue seems to be just a bug in updating the UI.
Still no changes on the original bug in wine-9.6, it's not possible to move past component selection when the advanced install type is used.

What do you mean logged separately? As in a new bug report or as in create a new log file and attach it?
