Also, beware, Wine's support for usb is tiny.  You may have better luck
with a native Linux driver for whatever device this is.

What device is it?  Does it or the software have a home page?

There are hundreds of different installers for this because each modem has an
installer and the software varies too much (tested a few), it is impossible to
guess from the log.

Resolving abandoned after 3 years without OR response to comment 4.
