Hi:

I have several files that pptview (the one installed from ubuntu repositories)
shows certain things very very wrong, with wrong spacements, bad characters,
broken links and fails to  the background (image).
On the other hand i have other files that pptview can't open at all.

The files are:
The "capitulo 4...ppt" is shown in a bad way
And "ppt_derecho...ppt" is not shown

Terminal output? Wine version? Which version of powerpoint viewer? Can you
upload sample problem ppt's?

The pptview version is the one from the ubuntu repositories.
The wine version is the last 1.2 that was updated a few days ago.

Here is the ppt that shows many WEIRD things...

beggining with the background, many characters are shown as others, sizes,
image links...
there is also some white cubes floating in some pages from time to time... ???

Both files display just fine for me in 1.2-rc2 in Powerpoint Viewer 2003 and
2007.

The problem may be with something in this Ubuntu package. Please test with a
clean install of Powerpoint Viewer 2007 downloaded from Microsoft.

Please specify exact output of 'wine --version' (and set it in the Version

I've made a fresh install of wine 1.2 rc2 and can't install pptview2007 (just
downloaded from microsoft).

Installs fine here.

You say this was a fresh install of Wine, but did you also uninstall the Ubuntu
pptview package and delete or rename ~/.wine before running the installer? If
not, please do both those things and try again.

First i've uninstalled the pptview version from ubuntu
Second Uninstalled Wine
Third erased all the content in .wine

Reinstalled everything after that...

Maybe i should erase ~/.wine completely?

Yes. Then run the installer from a terminal following these instructions:

Yeap, it worked!
Only report now is:
The character "{" when is drawn big (as in the large ppt) still showing weird.
All the rest works now.

Idea: someone should tell the ubuntu developers to change that app from their
repositories, for me it has been really painfull that really many many things
showed VERY wrong... but now with the ppt2007 everything (except for the little
little detail) works.

Thanks for Wine dudes, and somebody will look at the little deffect of the ppt
uploaded to mediafire??

Bug is invalid then. File a bug with Ubuntu about the problem with their
pptview package.

File a separate bug for the large braces not displaying properly in the
Capitulo_5.ppt file. The problem is only with braces that had been inserted as
an object (probably from the equation editor). Braces that were simply typed in
as text display fine, no matter how large. The problem is also only with
Powerpoint Viewer; everything looks fine in full Powerpoint.
