Bug #: 30774 Summary: Star Wars: Battlefront II quits unexpectedly during gameplay Product: Wine Version: 1.5.5 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Keywords: regression Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: gyebro69@gmail.com CC: hverbeet@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified Regression SHA1: 29893d81621b50e3acca1f2c34767867a9256ecb
Created attachment 40294 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=40294 plain terminal output (no backtrace)
Shortly after a game was loaded and you were spawned, the game quits. There is neither crash dialog, nor backtrace is generated...the game suddenly exits. Sometimes it occurs right after spawning, other times it lets me play the game for about 10-20 seconds. I have the Steam version of SW:Bf 2, the title screen says it's the 1.1 version.
The problem appeared in 1.5.4 and is still present in 1.5.5. The result of the regression test:
29893d81621b50e3acca1f2c34767867a9256ecb is the first bad commit commit 29893d81621b50e3acca1f2c34767867a9256ecb Author: Henri Verbeet hverbeet@codeweavers.com Date: Wed May 2 21:47:58 2012 +0200

Reverting the patch on 1.5.5 fixes the problem. There is no demo for the game. Other bugs related to this commit: bug #30658, bug #30659, bug #30695.

--- Comment #2 from Daniel Santos daniel.santos@pobox.com 2012-05-27 23:42:58 CDT --- Hey, thanks for this thorough bug report. I'll build these two and verify when I get the chance, but pretty busy atm. There are lots of ways a program can terminate w/o some type of exception. I presume you normally will get a wine backtrace if a wine program crashes?
