Bug ID: 42854 Summary: Please add "GOG" to the License field in AppDB Product: WineHQ Apps Database Version: unspecified Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: appdb-unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: fjfrackiewicz@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Hi folks,
When submitting an application, a user has the ability to select "Steam" as a license. Would it be possible to implement the same thing for GOG versions of games?
The reason I ask is that most, if not all, of those games get put under the "Retail" license even though retail games are usually physical versions of games rather than digitally distributed games.

--- Comment #1 from fjfrackiewicz@gmail.com --- Addendum:
With a "GOG" license, users would be able to put the actual in-game version of a GOG version of a game rather than having to resort to "Version: GOG" or something of the sort.

--- Comment #2 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net --- This is now fixed. However, the license is not a substitute for listing GOG as a separate version. GOG versions are not the same as the original versions (e.g., DRM removed, updated for modern systems) and they should have separate version entries.

--- Comment #4 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net --- Update: GOG and Steam have now been removed from the licenses list because they are not licenses. See bug 42970 for the discussion that led to this decision.
