I can't reproduce this even with wine 4.10, neither with d3d9 or d3d11 mode.
When mousing over something I can attack the cursor turns into a sword icon.
This is easy to reproduce by creating a new character; in the tutorial Strider
will prompt you to "practice combat".

If you can still reproduce this, can you please list exact graphics settings
and reproduction instructions?
