--- Comment #1 from Gregor Münch greg87@online.de 2007-09-01 06:55:52 --- This is invalid, as wine doesn't support glidewrapper. As it works for me, it is very likely that your graphic card is to blame.
If you want to use the glidewrapper, please change the thread policy and see if something changes. But I would really advice you to try d3d approach described in the howto of the games appdb site.

--- Comment #2 from Adam Pigg adam@piggz.co.uk 2007-09-01 10:39:30 --- Ok, ive removed ~/.wine, and did a fresh installation.
I think i follwewd the instructions on appdb for the d3d version by installing the game (using full), installing the linked 4.5 patch and applying the .reg.
But now, i get a messagebox saying 'Need for speed files are corrupt please reinstall'.
Any ideas?
Cheers
btw, i noticed the fonts are all screwed in windows messages, but it couldnt be that could it?

--- Comment #6 from Adam Pigg adam@piggz.co.uk 2007-09-01 15:35:31 --- I tried again the glidewrapper way, and just get a black screen with music playing. Its the same with or without renaming the movies as mentioned on appdb.
Will it be possible to get the d3d way working with mesa?
Cheers

--- Comment #7 from Gregor Münch greg87@online.de 2007-09-01 19:25:09 --- Sorry, this is bugzilla, not a forum. And please only one bug per report. The crash you describe is already mentioned in bug #5552
I've added some things to the Howto again. You might want to try out.
And for this bug report once again, configure the glidewrapper to use another threading model!

--- Comment #8 from Adam Pigg adam@piggz.co.uk 2007-10-07 16:28:27 --- Ok, ive tried all the threading models, and several other combinations of options and i either get a black screen (with music) or a segfault.
Also, no change using 0.9.46.
Ive tried the d3d approach, using the 92k d3da.d11, not the 132k one which i was using before (got it from http://machf.tripod.com/NFS/nfshs.htm) This got as far as chaning the screen res, but crashed soon after (before the music start playing).
Is this solely because i use intel hardware/drivers? Have others had success with non-nvidia cards?

--- Comment #9 from Robert Schuster thebohemian@gmx.net 2008-01-26 12:07:08 --- @Adam: Could you please retry with 0.9.54.
I am using this version, followed the d3d approach and it works fine. Have an nvidia card with the evil blob however.
