--- Comment #1 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2007-09-06 09:54:26 --- Not critical. When you say this first appeared in wine 0.9.43, are you saying it worked in previous releases?
If so, please run a regression test: http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting

--- Comment #2 from Rick Weed weed_richard@hotmail.com 2007-09-06 22:43:39 --- Interesting perspective. A change to Wine has completely broken an application and that isn't of any importance? Nice.
I install wine from yum. I don't build it from source.

--- Comment #3 from Lei Zhang thestig@google.com 2007-09-10 16:10:34 --- What was the last version that worked for you? 0.9.42?
Normal is the proper severity level, otherwise 75% of the bugs would all be marked critical.

--- Comment #6 from haarp liquitsnake@gmx.net 2007-09-30 03:20:04 --- Regression appeared between 0.9.42 and 0.9.43. However, for me it it won't crash. Instead, it consumes memory until the system grinds to an halt.

--- Comment #8 from Eric Markley emarkley@gmail.com 2007-10-01 11:51:20 --- After seeing haarp's regression test, I disabled both alsa and oss support in winecfg and Halo works perfectly again (though obviously without sound).
I'm not a programmer so someone else will have to take a look at Maarten Lankhorst's patches because they are quite big.

--- Comment #10 from Ben Hodgetts (Enverex) ben@atomnet.co.uk 2007-12-05 04:48:12 --- This is nastier than it looks. I just tested with .50 and what happens is that Halo shows its splashscreen and then goes to load, but uses 100% of the systems RAM and then dies, rather than just simply crashing (it doesn't use much RAM at all if you disable the sound drivers to work around the problem).
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9598
--- Comment #11 from Eric Markley emarkley@gmail.com 2007-12-05 09:53:06 --- I noticed that Halo loads and plays fine with sound if I just let it load for 2-3min. Maybe it loads for me because I don't have any swap, so it can do what ever its doing faster? (assuming it only tries to fill available memory and not more)
