Bug ID: 39944 Summary: Stars! battle dialog lags Product: Wine Version: 1.9.0 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: curaga@operamail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 53367 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=53367 Screenshot
The missiles in the Stars! battle dialog lag. This is a regression, Wine 1.3.0 displayed them smoothly.
I'll see about getting you a save file for quicker testing - otherwise you need to play the game long enough to get to a point where you can battle with missiles.

Here's a save file compatible with the demo. Steps:
1. Extract the tarball to the dir where stars!.exe is 2. Launch it, click "Open game", select the m1 file. 3. Open the "Reports -> battles" menu. 4. Click on the report. 5. Click play on the bottom-

--- Comment #2 from winetest@luukku.com --- For getting this bug fixed you should do regression testing. It's a lot more likelyt to get fixed fast when the regression commit is known. It's not that hard, but you need to have some knowledge how to compile wine.
Here is a guide https://wiki.winehq.org/Regression_Testing

--- Comment #3 from curaga@operamail.com --- Agreed. Compiling Wine takes 15min a pop though, I don't have 5 hours free for that.

Works fine for me in wine 1.9.15, can you please retest?

--- Comment #6 from André H. nerv@dawncrow.de --- Works fine for me in wine 2.0 Could you please retest? And please tell us more about your setup, like graphicscard, changed winecfg settings
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39944
--- Comment #7 from curaga@operamail.com --- Can't test for a while due to life.
GPU: Radeon HD4350, using the open driver, no compositor. Winecfg: Only thing I changed was the Windows version to Win 3.11 for stars.exe.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39944
--- Comment #8 from André H. nerv@dawncrow.de --- And in fact the missiles look worse when I change the settings to 3.1 But it's not a bug if you change the settings for no good reason
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39944
--- Comment #9 from curaga@gmx.com --- It's a Win 3.11 app. Naturally it expects to run on Win 3.11.
This is a regression, since I had it on Win 3.11 since Wine 1.3.0, where it did not lag.
