Summary: Rosetta Stone installs flawlessly, but will not run. Product: Wine Version: 1.1.12 Platform: All OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: metaleks@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=18664) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=18664) Output of running in terminal.
Have created a new .wine directory many a times. Reinstalled wine, and Rosetta Stone each time to give it a fresh new environment. Again, many times. Rosetta Stone installs flawlessly, but with the new update (3.35), Rosetta Stone refuses to run after being installed. It ran flawlessly before the update. To see the output of running Rosetta Stone in the terminal see the attachment.
I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 64bit with a Core2Duo. My wine version is 1.1.12 (latest).

I am. I just added the (whatever) to shorten the path. The program is being run from it's installed directory.

The workaround does not seem to work. Adding those values to the registry doesn't seem to do much. Reinstalled wine to get a clean environment once more. Awaiting more suggestions.

What workaround? Either add those registry values, and run with native shdocvw.dll and shlwapi.dll, or apply the patch (pointed to above) and recompile wine

Oh, sorry for being a bit of a newb there. I completely missed that somehow. Anyways, I've compiled WINE with your patch. Everything seems to be in working order. Rosetta Stone runs perfectly now.
I don't know much about how patches get accepted, but you should definitely submit yours to be included in the next WINE release. Thanks again for the help.
Bug status changed to FIXED.
