When selecting "custom" as graphic level and enabling everything but "front
buffer", Fahrenheit will be able to play the intro (flyby statue of liberty),
but afterwards it will crash with the attached log upon entering the first
scene (toilet).

The "shadows" setting seems to be responsible for this crash. Disabling it will
allow one to progress into the first scene.

To reproduce, these are my settings:
AA: None (Nothing else possible)
AF: Aniso 16
EnvMap: On
Textures: High
VSync: On
Front Buffer Effects: Off (Crashes at start of (before) intro otherwise)
Shadows: Off (Crashes upon entering 1st indoor scene otherwise)

GFX card is a nVidia GeForce 7900 GS.

Using x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-180.29.

Portage 2.2_rc23 (default/linux/amd64/2008.0/desktop, gcc-4.3.3,
glibc-2.9_p20081201-r1, 2.6.28-gentoo-r1 x86_64)

Disabling compositing effects in KDE4 allowed me to enable "Front Buffer
Effects".

Log with debug symbols

This is the full log of a crash when entering the tutorial with enabled
shadows.
It seems now that the front-buffer-effects do not really cause a crash. Maybe
some other part of the system had influence on this.

Using these settings Fahrenheit seems to be playable without any hacks and in
highest quality (even with anti-aliasing enabled):
