Before you try something like that, could you please tell us what happens when you try to start the game? Do any game-related windows pop up? If so, what do they say? Most of the time, if it is related to the copy protection that game makers put in their software to prevent unauthorized duplication, the game will pop up a window asking you to either "remove the debugger" or "insert the game cd". Do you get either of those problems? If not I will have you run wine with some command line parameters to try and see if we can see what is causing the error.
You are on the right track to providing a good bug report, but it lacks a few key things that we (the people monitoring the posts to bugzilla) look for to determine who it is that the problem needs to be sent to, so once you answer those questions, I will be more than happy to help you with your problem.
