Summary: Photoshop CS2 tools stop working in maximised images Product: Wine Version: 1.1.3 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: john@todnet.demon.co.uk
When working with maximized images in Photoshop CS2, tools (e.g. crop, marquee, clone etc. etc.) will eventually stop working. All tools except the colour picker seem to be affected. When the tool is clicked on the image, the tool symbol disappears whilst the mouse key is pressed and nothing is done.
The problem usually appears after several images have been opened, but can happen after a single image has been opened and worked on. Sometimes tool functionality becomes intermittent at first, then eventually stops working altogether. Closing all images except one does not restore tool functionality. The tools work normally in non-maximized windows. However, menu based commands (e.g. filters) work normally with the maximized images - just the tools are affected.
Easiest way to replicate: Open several images in Photoshop CS2, maximize, work on them, open some more images, repeat.
WM: Metacity; Ubuntu Hardy 8.04

--- Comment #2 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2009-03-11 10:49:15 --- Also, can you give us a clearer recipe? e.g. how many times do you have to repeat, and what do you have to do with each image?

Still an issue with 1.1.16, but after a little more investigation today, I know more. It is to do with Bridge. The problem occurs only when Bridge is open. The problem disappears when Bridge is either minimised or closed, so now we have a workaround.
To summarise, open Photoshop, open any number of images, everything works normally with images maximised or unmaximised. Now start Bridge. Maximise an image window in Photoshop and the tools (e.g. marquee, clone, hand, etc. etc.) no longer work. Unmaximise the image - everything is fine again. Minimise or close Bridge - everything back to normal.
Since Bridge is a major part of my workflow, I rarely have it closed, hence the initial confusion as to the nature of this bug.

--- Comment #7 from Ken Sharp kennybobs@o2.co.uk 2013-07-16 08:30:45 CDT --- I cannot even work out how to make the image maximised. Can you please retest in Wine 1.6-rc5?

--- Comment #8 from evut eva_bockova@yahoo.co.uk 2013-07-16 09:18:04 CDT --- To change appearance of windows, press F repeatedly while the window you're trying to maximize is active. Palettes can be removed or added to workspace with TAB. I am using 1.6-rc4 at the moment.
The problem with Bridge persists - works ok for a while then clicking on thumbnails or anything else stops working, after minimizing Bridge and bringing it up again it works for a while.
