Bug #: 29633 Summary: Richedit hyperlinks limited to first line Product: Wine Version: 1.2.2 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: richedit AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: sdh_luc@hotmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 38396 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=38396 A broken location name with its last word repeated
When hyperlinks in StarEdit's trigger sentences (as discussed in #4547) extend over multiple lines (either due to wrapping or because the linked text contains newlines), only the first is active. The others have the correct appearance and cursor but do nothing. (This is unfortunate if the first character is a newline!) Presumably related is that editing the multiline text replaces only the first line (see screenshots).

Reporting bugs with such an old Wine version is not useful
Sorry -- Lucid's wine1.2 says "This package is based on a recent Wine beta." which may have been true at the time.
please retest with wine-1.3.37.
The same behavior (graphics and response) occurs.
Thanks.

--- Comment #3 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 2 years. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.16 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #6 from Davis Herring sdh_luc@hotmail.com --- I finally have a functioning newer machine to test with; this bug is still present in Ubuntu 18.04's wine-stable (3.0-1ubuntu1).

--- Comment #7 from Davis Herring sdh_luc@hotmail.com --- Word wrapping no longer causes the bug, but newlines still do.

--- Comment #8 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr --- You tried with a very old version of wine. Please test with the latest version. Currently, it is wine-5.9.

--- Comment #9 from Davis Herring sdh_luc@hotmail.com --- With the instructions from https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=32192, I tried with wine-5.9 (winehq-devel 5.9~bionic); the results are the same as the 3.0 version: only explicit newlines cause the bug.

--- Comment #10 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr --- Better you attach a console output with wine-5.9.

--- Comment #11 from Davis Herring sdh_luc@hotmail.com --- Sorry, but I'm not sure I understand the request. My guess was to run wineserver -d 2 for a short session to reproduce the bug, which resulted in 72 MB of stderr output. Can you be more specific?

--- Comment #12 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr --- in the folder where your application is installer: WINEDEBUG=+richedit wine myapplication.exe&>output.txt
attach output.txt into this bug (if output.txt is too big, compress it).

--- Comment #14 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr --- A new screenshot showing the remaining problem would be useful. And is there a freely downloadable version of the software?

I wrote "line N before" on three lines, then clicked (the first line!) to, via another dialog, change it to "line N after". I don't know about any other software that uses this control, sorry.

--- Comment #16 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr --- Is this software https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/starcraft/t/public-staredit-download/457 ?

--- Comment #17 from Davis Herring sdh_luc@hotmail.com --- So it is (although I've been using an older version) -- I never learned that Blizzard had made StarEdit, let alone StarCraft (without the new fancy graphics), free to download.

--- Comment #18 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr --- Can you provide a how-to (step by step) to reproduce the bug?
