Summary: 3DS MAX 7.0: Any attempt to change viewport configuration results in a crash Product: Wine Version: 1.1.7 Platform: PC URL: http://files.filefront.com/3dsmax7exe/;10541739;/fileinf o.html OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: rockinup1231@gmail.com
In 3DS Max 7.0 there is an option for changing the arrangement and types of viewports displayed, whether they be 3D perspective viewports, or 2D ones displaying various sides of geometry generated in the program.
For some reason, if you attempt to change the viewport arrangement, it crashes with a crash report window. Also, if you have one of the viewports maximized, it will crash before even opening the viewport configuration window.
I'm guessing this is related to d3d (when the crash occurs there are now errors produced about the crash in the terminal). I'll have to do a trace.

--- Comment #3 from Justin Soulia rockinup1231@gmail.com 2008-11-26 17:37:19 --- Created an attachment (id=17466) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=17466) Terminal output
This was the terminal output (the error when it crashed followed by the backtrace) for Wine-1.1.9. Prior to Wine-1.1.9 it didn't produce anything after the crash.
If you do manage to change the viewport configuration and hit okay before it happens, however, the next time you load the program the changes will be applied.
I also noticed this seems to affect other features, as a similar error was produced (seems to happen randomly) when I chose to "reset" the program (File->Reset).

--- Comment #4 from Justin Soulia rockinup1231@gmail.com 2008-11-26 17:54:33 --- I tried changing viewports again. I managed to do it four times without 3DS Max crashing. However, when I wanted to change what type of view one of the viewport windows would display, I right clicked the viewport I wanted to adjust, and hovered over "Schematic" and it crashed. I restarted the program, and it came up with the error before the GUI could even initialize.
Like I said before, it seems random.

--- Comment #5 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-05-29 12:19:07 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.22 or newer) wine?
