Summary: World of Warcraft loses sound and refuses to relinquish focus after being alt+tabbed Product: Wine Version: 0.9.43. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: wine-binary AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: izamryan@gmail.com
I've tried seting winecfg to use ALSA alone, and tried it with using OSS (using ALSA-OSS emulation).
1. When using ALSA, sound works fine, but when I alt+tab out, sound is lost. And when I alt+tab out of World of Warcraft, it refuses to give up the focus and let me switch to another window.
2. When using OSS, sound doesn't work at all.
3. When using wine 0.9.41, WoW works perfectly, and can alt+tab perfectly fine

I try and Alt+Tab and switch from WoW to another application, but WoW hijacks my window manager and switches back to WoW.
I try and Ctrl+Alt+Right or Ctrl+Alt+Left to switch workspaces, but WoW hijacks my window manager and switches back to WoW.
I'm using Ubuntu Linux 7.04 and OpenBox to run WoW. Since my GNOME is set up with Desktop Effects (Compiz/Beryl/eyecandy) WoW's performance suffers a little in GNOME.
When using a previous version of Wine 0.9.41, sound works flawlessly and I can switch between WoW and a full screen web browser running on a second workspace in a split second. When I switch back to WoW, it responds within a split second ... I'm mightily impressed!

I'm having the same issue after upgrading to 0.9.43 from 0.9.39.
I'm using gentoo and a very basic WM called evilwm.
I downgraded to 0.9.42 and had the same issue, down to 0.9.41 and it is working as normal again.

OK, now trying the latest Wine 0.9.44
1. Sound works flawlessly, when configured to use OSS. I'm not using the aoss wrapper though.
2. Start up and play seems to work fine.
3. I cannot exit the program from within wine and I have to manually kill the process off from within the terminal I used to start the program.

Forgot to add:
I had to change WoW to "Use Windowed Mode" and "Maximised". It now behaves as expected - it gives up the focus and lets me switch to another window.
Not sure what to do about WoW not closing from within the client though.
The last few messages before I have to Control+C the client are:
