Bug ID: 36853 Summary: WINE should detect the presence of the window manager. Product: Wine Version: unspecified Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: programs Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: carlo.bramix@libero.it
Created attachment 48943 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=48943 Screenshot, missing decorations.
In my private, ubuntu based, linux distribution, I installed the strict minimun amount of packages, required for running just WINE and applications for Windows with few megabytes. I have not installed a window manager. When running applications, it will happen that the decorations of the windows won't be displayed if the window manager is enabled to draw or control them. See the attached screenshot with winecfg running as an example. The presence of the window manager should be detected and, if it is not available, the two options for such purpose should be always grayed and the function must be disabled automatically if it's enabled.

--- Comment #1 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com --- Is it valid to run OSX without a window manager too?

--- Comment #2 from Carlo Bramini carlo.bramix@libero.it --- I'm sorry, but unfortunately I do not own and I never used OSX, so I cannot reply to your question.

--- Comment #3 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for over a year. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.51 or newer) wine?
