The installer gets to the "Ubi.com Login" screen, but when I click the Next
button, a dialog box pops up with "Internal error."

No, you doesn't need a fileplanet account. I downloaded Farcry from
www.gamershell.com
I registered me at ubi.com and I also get an Internal error while starting
farcry.

with native wininet

Even with native wininet.dll the same error comes up. Seems there is some work
needed to get it to work. ;)

If wininet does progress to make this installer work for Far Cry, the
successful outcome will be the installer aborting and your registered email
account receiving the following email from Ubisoft:

still an issue w/ wine 1.1.22. the installer says "internal error" when trying
to connect to the ubisoft server.

As I understand, the ad supported version was 'recalled', and I would think
that means they deactivated authentication.

Most likely not an issue with wine.

Please read the bug report more carefully before suggesting such things.

Currently tells me that I must live in the US to play (which I am, and the
account I made was set to US).

Tried native wininet, made no difference. Haven't tried on windows, may be a
game bug..

In wine-1.7.2-242-g7261e63 and wine-1.4.1, I get an internal error when trying
to login. The servers may be down, didn't look further, it's not worth it at
this point. Abandoned.
