Games loads up and will only show the mouse, the rest of the screen is either black with occasional large blocky squares. Game does not crash.

--- Comment #3 from db0 mail@dbzer0.com 2008-09-27 09:44:00 --- I can confirm that me and many other people have the same issue with Spore (If you look at the comments for Spore you'll see at least 4 different threads for basically the same thing). This happens with either ATI or builtin cards.
What I've noticed is that if I have compiz running, then the screen flickers but If I disable compiz, the screen is black.

not working with 1.0. I've tried the bisect thing, but with no luck. It is definitely a problem with fglrx (I'm using 8.9)

I'd like to point out last two comments contradict each other. Wouldn't the logical conclusion be that it's not caused by some particular driver version but something else altogether? You left Wine version out.

I always had a newest development version of wine. And with old drivers a had problems with Spore and source based games (eg. HL2) at dxlevel > 70. In spore i only saw cursor, in source games white light blue screen on some maps.
With new drivers I can't see creatures in spore (but this is another bug), but hl2 and portal run fine at dxlevel 81.

No offense but that doesn't say Wine version. Leaving the actual git patch string out is bad enough for AppDB but since it makes duplicating results impossible, it really shouldn't be done in bugzilla.

--- Comment #17 from evanh evanh@clear.net.nz 2010-08-07 15:06:52 --- ATI driver (fglrx) is working now I believe. That only leaves Intel driver (Tungsten) to go. Since this never was a Wine bug I don't think there is value in holding a bug report on this any longer.
Close bug as INVALID please.
