'The application doesn't start. After copying itself to the destination folder
it gives the error "It seems like uTorrent is already running, but not
responding. Please close all uTorrent processes and try again."'

Seemed to work okay a few versions ago.

Works fine here, try again in a CLEAN WINEPREFIX.

The utorrent 1.8.3 release works fine, however starting with 1.8.4, and
including 1.8.5, this problem occurs.  The AppDb documents a semi-workaround
for the issue, but it is a bit of a hack.

The 2.0 beta release does not suffer from this issue currently.

Not technically a regression, as it was introduced by a program update, not a
Wine update.

I confirm this bug. I was able to reproduce with:
wget "http://download.oldapps.com/UTorrent/utorrent_1.8.5.exe"
(export WINEPREFIX=~/.winetmput1/ && rm -rf $WINEPREFIX && wine
utorrent_1.8.5.exe)
