Summary: Dead Space will not start (via Steam at least) Product: Wine Version: 1.1.34 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: blocker Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: vin.diesel.eats.babies@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=25427) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=25427) Console log
Dead space crashes during launch. Screen goes black, then I'm dropped back to a desktop with a dialog stating:
The program Dead Space.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close.
I've tried applying the DisplayEnum hack and I'm using fbo. I've verified game files via Steam, and have tried running in emulated desktop and out. Attached log.

What's this doing as native?
What video card and drivers? Please retry with wine-1.1.35

--- Comment #2 from Pete Riesett vin.diesel.eats.babies@gmail.com 2009-12-29 07:02:58 --- I have a GeForce 8800 GT, running the 185.18.36 drivers. Still crashes with wine-1.1.35, albeit with a slightly different console log. I've just now remembered that I haven't reapplied the patch for the display enums, but the message is a bit different. I'll reapply the patch and see if that clears it up.
I don't have access to native, just Steam, and just wine.

--- Comment #3 from Henri Verbeet hverbeet@gmail.com 2009-12-29 07:17:17 --- The initial report is a duplicate of bug 20913, which should be fixed in 1.1.35. What does the log for 1.1.35 or current git look like? Also, what is this "DisplayEnum hack"?

--- Comment #4 from Pete Riesett vin.diesel.eats.babies@gmail.com 2009-12-29 07:26:50 --- The DisplayEnum hack, http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15795 fixed it up with 1.1.35 for me, so yeah, I'd say what I was seeing a dupe. 1.1.34 had the initial crash, then after that I needed to go in to wine/dlls/user32/misc.c and have the method EnumDisplayDevicesA return false.
