Reproducible in a fresh wine prefix.

Reverting back to EA Origin version 9.5.11.2855 - 363764 fixes that issue for me. But I think Origin Beta updates should be disabled anyway
I'm not using a beta version of Origin, I was unaware it was possible to revert to an earlier version.

Then need to disable In-Game Overlay (IGO) and voila, I can run and play Mass Effect 3 from EA Origin right now!

So, I tried to start a game and that worked. In other words the game thought Origin was running. I went over to my wine prefix, just to see what games I would lose if I re-installed Origin. I noticed the update marked the Origin folder in 'Program Files' read-only. The 'Origin Games' folder nor any other folder was modified. I reset it to write mode. Suddenly, the Origin client popped up on the screen.
Check the write permissions for Origin within the prefix.

I can't proof it, but I believe that this is some new issue. Not so long ago Origin did install and run with no issues with wine-staging.
I haven't been able to install and run using either wine or wine-staging. Staging goes further, but it still fails for some odd reason. It could be Origin update or regression in wine code since so much new dx11 has been added. Can't tell.

I started my previous installation, the prefix updated itself and Origin pulled some updates.
Origin starts up okay after the update, is a bit slow but updating itself definetely worked for me. (4.13-staging)

Original issue was not about file permissions, but wined3d & in game overlay (IGO).
I can't reproduce the issue with either latest or legacy Origin.
