--- Comment #1 from Bertrand Mainville Bertrand_mainville@protonmail.com --- Doesn't happen on bare metal, the problem isn't with WINE but the hypervisor. There is a weird bug in VMware that has been reported.

--- Comment #3 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello Damjan,
--- quote --- Bugs in other projects are NOTOURBUG. --- quote ---
No, that's not the Wine project definition of 'NOTOURBUG'
https://bugs.winehq.org/page.cgi?id=fields.html#bug_status
--- quote --- NOTOURBUG
The problem is not a bug in Wine, but in some upstream software Wine depends on or broken packages in distributions. --- quote ---
'NOTOURBUG' would apply to: Gcc (broken compiler), x11 libs, freetype etc.
https://bugs.winehq.org/buglist.cgi?bug_status=RESOLVED&bug_status=CLOSE...
Windows application bugs traditionally resolved as 'INVALID' = bug not valid in context of the Wine project or related projects.

--- Comment #4 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello again,
disregard my comment. The bug is in VMWare package on Linux distro which indeed qualifies as "broken packages in distributions".

--- Comment #5 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello folks,
reading OP's comment again I think 'INVALID' resolution is still appropriate.
--- quote --- Doesn't happen on bare metal, the problem isn't with WINE but the hypervisor. There is a weird bug in VMware that has been reported. --- quote ---
I assume "bare-metal" means "native" Linux, not running as guest.
If he meant "running the app with Wine which runs in a Linux guest on top of a type-1 (bare-metal) Hypervisor" = VMware ESXi the bug should be considered invalid because it's in a commercial closed-source product which has no relation to Linux nor Wine.
If he meant "running the app with Wine which runs in a Linux guest on top of a type-2 (hosted) Hypervisor" = VMware Workstation/Player in Linux it's still the same situation. Afaik VMWare doesn't provide distro packages but app bundles for the player. It's a commercial closed-source product which has no relation to Linux nor Wine.

--- Comment #6 from Bertrand Mainville Bertrand_mainville@protonmail.com --- --- quote --- I assume "bare-metal" means "native" Linux, not running as guest. --- quote ---
Indeed, that's what I meant.
Invalid resolution is more accurate, indeed. This bug has nothing to do with Linux or WINE, but with the closed source VMWare
