I have wine-9.0 (Ubuntu 9.0~repack-4build3) on a Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon (Kernel: 6.8.0-51-generic #52-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Thu Dec 5 13:09:44 UTC 2024 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux) installed.
I can only get Internet Access with running Wine as Sudo.

--- Comment #1 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- Does 'wine iexplore.exe' work? What application are you using to test internet access? What groups is your user in?

no Wine IExplore doesn´t work too when i run it from Linux CMD
Wine is installed for my Main User an this User is in WWW-data Group too. From Linux itself Internet connection works without Problems.
If i start wine from Linux CMD with SUDO then it works, but thats a Security Risk i mean.
This issue is only from Linux CMD and only the Wine Utilities ! so if i start a installed Wine Application with Internet Connection it works fine.
e.g. If i start "wine cmd" and then use "Ping google.com" i get the Error Message:
Pinging google.com [172.217.18.14] with 32 bytes of data: PING: transmit failed. General failure. PING: transmit failed. General failure. PING: transmit failed. General failure. PING: transmit failed. General failure.
Ping statistics for 172.217.18.14 Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss)
If i use "wine iexplore" there no connection and an blank Internet Site.

That might be explained by `sudo wine ...` causing a different WINEPERFIX to be used (/root/.wine instead of /home/$USER/.wine or similar), with maybe something in the user's being misconfiguerd - e.g. wrong proxy settings would be a possible explanation.
You should try with a fresh prefix.

--- Comment #4 from Starfoxfs@gmx.net --- I have tried this more than 1 Time, purged Wine completly with User Directorys. No luck same Problem.
I think it have to do with ICMP Raw Sockets:
https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/wikis/FAQ#failed-to-use-icmp-network-p...
But the Problem here is i have no directory "wine-preloader" under "/usr/bin/"
Linux Mint 22.0 installs both Versions of Wine (32bit and 64bit) over the "Applicationmanager"

iexplore.exe doesn't require raw ICMP sockets..

Thats correct, as i say thats confusing because only Ping and Iexplore dont work
"wine cmd" then "ping heise.de" always the Error "PING: transmit failed. General failure."
"wine iexplore" doesnt load any Internet Sites
The whole other Wine App works fine with Internet Connection e.g. i start something with wineprefix or do wine xyz.exe from command line that works all.

--- Comment #8 from Ken Sharp imwellcushtymelike@gmail.com --- And wine iexplore works when run as root?
Please attach a console log of running "wine iexplore" without root. Always remember to include console logs.
Upgrading Wine may also yield different results. I don't understand why you're using a release candidate version.

--- Comment #11 from Starfoxfs@gmx.net --- Hi,
with Gecko installed iexplore works fine, its a bit confusing because Gecko have to be manually installed.
Itś not on the Repository from Mint Cinnamon 22 or WineHQ
Unfortunately the ping with "Wine CMD" command still doesn't work
