+msi,+msidb WINWORD.EXE

MS Office XP installs correctly however :

- MSWORD.EXE displays a popup at startup advising to "repair" the installation.

- MSWORD.EXE does not allow for modification although documents are perfectly
rendered.

Modification as in you can't edit the document, or you can edit, but can't
save?

Severity is not major.

Where is the document located? On ntfs partition or Linux (ext3, etc)?

I can't edit the document at all.

Document located on a local ext3 partition.

I noticed in Word's status bar a message along the lines of "The document is
locked against modifications" (translated from french) when I try to delete or
add some text to the document.

Don't know if it's related but each time I press a key inside Word's editor
window I get the following message in the console (along with the message I
already mentionned in Word's status bar) :

Saw Dan Kegel comment on wine-devel regarding Office 2007 and riched20 :

Sounded quite similar to what I see here with Word 2002 so I tried to override
riched20 with no luck.

I then winetricked riched20 riched32 ans msxml3 but I still got the following
(french) message in Word's status bar :

"Commande non disponible : le document est verrouillé contre les
modifications"

That roughly translates to :

"Command unavailable : the document is locked against modification"

Additionaly the menu bar icons are graying out just after Word's splashscreen
disappears. FWIW.

Maybe that's how the app fails if something is broken enough that it decides
somebody is trying to crack it?
People said it was a symptom of an expired trial...
