This is not a duplicate of bug 3771 - 3771 describes the frequent intermittent
crashing during gameplay.

This bug is a page fault on startup before you even get the game engine running.

Setting desktop to 16 bit colour depth, is one workaround.

Enabling 'emulate virtual desktop' feature in winecfg is another.
