Summary: with compiz, D3D apps are slow (but used to be fast!) Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: matejcik@gmail.com
okay, i understand that it makes some sense to disable desktop effects (compiz) before playing a game.
however: in Ubuntu Jaunty, i was able to play Carmageddon2 at a very solid speed with desktop effects enabled. i was very sad to find out that i no longer can do that on Karmic.
i am using wine packages from wine's official PPA, so i would guess that wine version is the same, but X.org and/or compiz probably changed.
if this kind of configuration is not supported, feel free to close the bug and i'll seek help with compiz folks. otherwise, you might want to look into it.

--- Comment #2 from matejcik@gmail.com 2009-12-01 11:12:46 --- how should i know? perhaps it communicates with a compositing manager in a way that the new one doesn't understand?
but okay, i'll get back to you if it turns out to be none of compiz's fault, hopefully with more solid version information
