The game never start when run in kubuntu lucid using kernel 2.6.32-26-generic or 2.6.32-27-generic. If I use a previous kernel, 2.6.32-25-generic, it starts normally. In fact, this is the only thing that does not work using the new kernels.
This is the only exit when running via console: "fixme:thread:SetThreadIdealProcessor (0x70): stub fixme:thread:SetThreadIdealProcessor (0x78): stub"

Specs- Intel Core Duo CPU 1.73 GHz 2 GB RAM Intel 945GM graphics card 128 MB (I think)
My hardware doesn't seem to be the problem as I've had the game run on Windows Vista with this same computer a week ago. Also yields same results with Ubuntu 10.10.

If it hangs on start-up then try to rename DMCmdPortalClient.dll(also a problem on Windows):
$ mv Sporebin/DMCmdPortalClient.dll Sporebin/DMCmdPortalClient.dll.bak
