I can't reproduce that. Tested in 1.5.25 with LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8.

It doesn't happen each time ...
restart notepad, test again, long press the word "Fichier" first. 
The bug occurs even with 
LANG=C notepad
But in this case, the word "File" appears to be bold :
the shift is less clear than in french.

I did it 5 times in a row, pressing "Fichier" for a full 10 seconds each time,
and still could not reproduce it. It doesn't happen in English, either.

I see that too. For me reverting commit
ebaf5ea17623268fb1c0f68b1cf9a5984bd4e46e helps. I guess this may be a freetype
problem (I'm using 2.4.4).
