Problems with WriteOutloud software running in Wine 1.0
Te prog installs and runs but when you press spacebar after typing a word the prog throws up a error message to say the spechecker can't be found. Also, if you attempt to use the 'insert picture' option the prog crashes.
Two logs are attached - the first as the prog boots up, the second after the 'insert picture' option is used.

--- Comment #3 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2008-10-24 19:00:36 --- Let's get some more detail. Can you give us an enhanced log? To do this, do $ cd $HOME/".wine/drive_c/DonJohnston/WriteOutloud V3" $ WINEDEBUG=+relay,+seh wine "WriteOutloud v3.exe" > log.txt 2>&1
Then compress the long, long log: $ gzip log.txt
and attach log.txt.gz here.
Also, please only attach one file per log.

I've had problems with this! First of all I couldn't manage to navigate to the WriteOutLoud folder using the cd command you suggested. Eventually I realised that the spelling of 'WriteOutLoud' is different. It is spelt with a capital 'W', capital 'O' and capital 'L'. This is strange because I seem to have been using the misspelt version myself and getting the prog to run with it! After changing the spelling I managed to cd to the folder successfully and ran the second command.
When I ran the second command the prog started as usual but I couldn't get an enhanced log because when I tried to insert the picture the prog froze and I could only manage to close it down by closing the console. The spellchecker error didn't seem to cause any corresponding readout in the console.
What I have done is to upload the installation files to some online storage I have and perhaps it would be easier if you had the software to work with. I won't post the link publicly but will send it to Dan direct. Don Johnston software UK are aware that I'm experimenting with it under Wine. Unfortunately I'm very new to Linux and struggling a bit! It's important software for supporting dyslexic children so I'm quite keen to get it running for use in our schools.

UPDATE!
I've managed to fix the bugs with the spellchecker and the 'insert picture'! I found on the software supplier's website that a similar fault was known even when running in Windows or Mac and a suggested solution was to edit the registry to correct the paths to the dictionaries etc. I ran regedit from the console and replaced the paths as per a working Windows installation and all the errors disappeared!
The only very minor issues I'm left with are 1) When the program is started it minimises to the taskbar, you then have to click on it, where it then expands to a tiny window at a top corner of the screen. Finally, by clicking on the 'maximise' icon at the top of the window it finally opens out to fill the screen - not a huge problem but because I hope to use this with children it would be nice if it opened and filled the screen straight away.
2)The other small remaining glitch is where you should be alerted to a spelling error by playing a wav file (of your choice) This doesn't work for some reason, even although the wav file plays in SMPlayer outwith the program.

Yes - Have tried it in Xandros, Linpus and Kuki Linux with newer versions of Wine. Still having to do Alt+F10 to maximise the Window.
