Summary: Edcast unable to start up Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: s.baus86@gmx.net
Edcast can not be started, due to an error. It just crashes and then wine says me, that if this happens I should send a bug report. Edcast is available free in the internet, for example here: http://www.mpex.net/software/details/edcast.html
The log of Edcast says nothing special, so I don't append it. If you need it, please take contact with me ;)!

--- Comment #1 from Andrew Nguyen arethusa26@gmail.com 2011-05-21 15:19:52 CDT --- Please specify Wine version and attach debug output as per http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log to the bug report. That download link doesn't seem to work; do you have an equivalent working alternative?

That link just redirects me to http://www.oddsock.org/goodbye.html though.
Your log says:
err:mmdevapi:init_driver Failed to load driver: L"pulse" err:mmdevapi:DllGetClassObject Driver initialization failed
You should probably select a working Wine audio backend.

I upped the install to my Dropbox: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3351272/Stuff/edcast_standalone_3.1.21.exe
How should I choose a record device? Take a look at the screenshot attached by me.
Also it worked, but since the update to 1.3.19 this app crashes. I have a second PC with 1.3.18 and everything runs fine there. This is the only app that crashes, several other wine applications like "mp3directcut" and "meterV" work fine and have access to the sound device. I would thank you for helping me, and I'm looking forward to get the update to 1.3.20 soon, in order to check if this bug has been fixed.

--- Comment #8 from Andrew Nguyen arethusa26@gmail.com 2011-06-08 02:47:05 CDT --- I cannot reproduce the crash with your provided version of edcast with wine-1.3.21-254-g5bf7622, and I do see an ALSA device listed in the live recording device listing. As I said before, you may want to specify a working Wine audio backend in winecfg, as there is no PulseAudio backend in Wine proper.
