--- Comment #1 from Fabian Maurer dark.shadow4@web.de --- What is this vortex you're talking about? A link (if possible) is always helpful.
What happens? Does it crash, freeze, exit with an error message? Also, please provide a full log, aka terminal output.

Yeah sorry I realized I should've clarified 2 minutes before you replied but didn't see how I could edit my comment. I'm referring to the nuxes mod manager. https://www.nexusmods.com/about/vortex/

The program seems to work fine for me though. Need more information on what happens.

That's odd. Do you think it could be because you're using the latest development version of wine and not 4.6?
I even tried wiping out the whole wineprefix and recreating it. If I try to install dotnet462 it fails because it has dotnet40 installed even though I never told it to do that with the new prefix. The only way I can get dotnet462 to install is if I use the --force argument which I already tried before making this report but it didn't make a difference for the application.

I just now also tried installed dotnet462 offline installer from the MS site. The install was successful but it didn't matter for vortex it still gave the error message during install.

Then you didn't wine it properly. Just deleting the .wine folder is enough though. Btw, Vortex doesn't seem to need the .NET framework at all, it works for me without. And yes, I only tested with wine-4.8, can you try that, too?

I upgraded to 4.8.1 via building from source but it still didn't help I added an attachment of the output I get from terminal when I try to install Vortex. I also found two lutris scripts prior but neither worked and I wound up making this issue on the lutris github. https://github.com/lutris/lutris/issues/2133

--- Comment #10 from Fabian Maurer dark.shadow4@web.de --- Well, maybe you use a different version. I'm using "Vortex-1-0-17-11-1554901229.exe" which is based on electron. I just downloaded the newest version, maybe you use a different version that uses .NET? But I would need to know how to download that.

I've been trying to install the very same version. I just now even tried the custom install version that allows you to chose where you want the app to be installed and has a slightly different version number. With that one the installer at least finished all the way through but as soon I as I go to run the app I get the same error message. Does my terminal output match yours?
I tried also running it directly from the Vortex.exe in the installed directory and got different output I will post it as an attachment.

--- Comment #13 from logicalman101@gmail.com --- You will notice in the newlog it shows I'm running wine as windows 10 that's only because I tried to set it from 7 to 10 as a fix since I noticed that's what the lutris script did but it didn't make a difference.

--- Comment #14 from Fabian Maurer dark.shadow4@web.de --- Just noticed, you run into exception 0x80000003 - which means a breakpoint.
Just to make sure, did you already try wine-staging? Or winetricks "allfonts"?

No I'm no5 using wine-staging. Should switch to it?
Also I don't have allfonts installed from winetricks. Should I install that as well?

Adding the fonts did it thanks. I didn't even know that part of winetricks was still used anymore.

--- Comment #18 from Fabian Maurer dark.shadow4@web.de --- Can you find out which font exactly fixes the issue? Just deleting some of the fonts from drive_c/windows/Fonts/ until it crashes should be enough.

Yep I did it it's using times.tff. Regardless of fixing this the experience has made me realize it's not worth running the program just for having skyrim se with all working mods because using the automatic way to install mods seems require installation of a web browser in the prefix but I unfortunately can't test that theory because the winetricks install of firefox doesn't. I could probably get an exe of another browser but it's not worth the effort for the reward.
Having said that I intended to learn how to help wine development on a coding level.

--- Comment #20 from Fabian Maurer dark.shadow4@web.de --- Thanks for testing, I wonder why it works for me then. I don't have this font installed either.

--- Comment #21 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr --- By comment 19, it was times font missing. At least, can the tile of this bug be changed? Surely, it is a duplicate, but I can not find which one.
