`World of Warships 0.8.8` used to work more or less flawlessly in wine-4.16; since the update to 4.17 left/right mouse clicks are no longer recognized at all in the main menu (including login), rendering the application unusable.
The problem appeared since `wine-4.17-2" on x86_64, using Fedora 30. Downgrading to 4.16 fixed the problem.

Are you really running Wine Staging? Why? Try vanilla Wine.

I feel like this is a bit of an odd question to ask. Presumably either Staging is necessary to run this application or some other one. We do support Staging, so to react to its use with confusion is a little dissonant.
That said, when filing bugs against Staging (and especially regressions) it is certainly most helpful to also test the corresponding upstream release. See https://wiki.winehq.org/Wine-Staging#Reporting_and_debugging_bugs_against_Staging.

Well, "need to" is strong wording, but it'll certainly improve the chances of the bug getting fixed quickly. Note also that running a regression test is often more complicated when Staging is involved (see the above link).

I test the game every few weeks, usually after a couple of wine releases.
Mouse always worked for me since I acquired the game on Steam in July 2019.
My system is 64-bit Debian 8.

Same for me. Never had such an issue - that's 5 years now. Started with open beta in 2015. Veteran of 21k battles ;-)
