Hi,
If it can still be of any use, I attached a d3dx channel trace. This is the first time I play with WINEDBUG, so I hope I did it right (set it to "trace+d3dx"). Full trace from starting the game, loading a level where the glitch happens, then closing the game.
Hoping it can help -- Alexandre

Well, it certainly does work on Wine-Staging 3.8 (and indeed every Wine-Staging I've used over the past year or so) – see attachments. Though obviously Gallium Nine only works if you're using Mesa (so NOT the proprietary NVIDIA driver).

I am using Mesa but also Wine with just Gallium Nine and not Staging. I did use Staging until fairly recently though, which might explain how I got so far through the game before I noticed the problem. Perhaps the fix is specific to Staging. I'll give it a try.

--- Comment #21 from James Le Cuirot chewi@gentoo.org --- Well I've tried 3.8-108-g48aeef69fc Staging, both with and without Gallium Nine, and it still doesn't work, at least not on the Aim for the Eel level. I have already passed the Air Electoons level and it didn't work back then either but at that time, I figured it was supposed to look like that, strange as it seems now. There must be some other factor at play here. I have a Radeon RX 480, how about you?

Odd. I'm using Nouveau with a GeForce GTX 970 (as in, I overestimated NVIDIA's willingness to provide firmware two years ago). It may be a poor combination in terms of efficiency, but at least it makes Rayman Origins work…
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30550
--- Comment #23 from James Le Cuirot chewi@gentoo.org --- Good news! I'm not sure exactly what fixed it but I recently switched to Gallium Nine Standalone, built the latest Mesa from the 18.3 git branch, and built the latest Wine Staging from git master and it works now! :)

--- Comment #24 from mgkeyes@vigovproductions.net --- Good to know that GN Standalone works. Might make this more accessible to people. The fact that BOTH staging and nine are required though makes this a real head-scratcher all the same.

I don't know if you really need all of these, it may have simply been the Mesa update that did it.

--- Comment #26 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr --- Does the bug still occur with vanilla wine-4.1 (that is without workaround)?
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30550
--- Comment #27 from James Le Cuirot chewi@gentoo.org --- I actually forgot to come back here to say that although it is certainly better for me, it is not completely fixed yet. While nothing is completely invisible now, which makes getting through these trickier levels possible, some parts are still missing. Most notably the tentacles that you get in many levels have sections missing in a kind of stripy manner.
I'll try to determine exactly what caused the earlier improvement at the weekend so that we can close this out properly.

This bug is still present in Wine 4.2 staging (x86_64) on ArchLinux:
OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL renderer string: GeForce GTX 1060 6GB/PCIe/SSE2 OpenGL core profile version string: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 418.43 OpenGL core profile shading language version string: 4.60 NVIDI
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30550
--- Comment #29 from flobob vulture6@mail.com --- Yes, it's still present here in 4.4-devel with Nvidia. It's kind of curious as other similar effects all seem to be displaying correctly.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30550
--- Comment #30 from mgkeyes@vigovproductions.net --- Well, the bad news is that the issue is still present up to Wine 4.8; the good news is that Gallium Nine Standalone mitigates it just as well as Gallium Nine built into Wine. Not sure what else I can say.

Added strict_shader_math but it didn't make any difference.
When you were testing that with AMD card, you were testing it with wined3d and not with d3d9 Nine, right? If that is the case, could you please retry it on Nvidia but after adding registry entries from attach file (wine regedit spoof_amd.reg)? These registry entry should make wined3d report AMD GPU to the program.

--- Comment #38 from flobob vulture6@mail.com --- Added entries from spoof_amd.reg but sadly it made no difference.
