Where did you get this binary from?
The link you provided is the official vendor download site. All downloads (32-bit, 64-bit) are provided as .zip archive
Example: Textpad 7.40, 32-bit
http://www.textpad.com/download/v74/win32/txpeng740-32.zip
All unpacked .zip archives contain 'setup.exe'. Your executable is named 'txpeng740-32.exe'. Care to explain?

--- Comment #6 from ineuw ineuw@aei.ca --- Thanks for your comments. I am well aware that it's a zip file containing the setup.exe. (I am a registered user of TextPad since 2006.) Think that I found the problem. TextPad will crash if it can't find some of its crucial components, the location of which are pre-defined in the "Folders" section of their configuration "Preferences". So, immediately after installation, I verified the folder specs. So far it's working OK.
