Installation of gothic 2 gold (that is gothic 2 and its addon "night of the
raven"  (or "Die Nacht des Raben" in german) version 2.60) works like a charm. I
had to swap the files from CD 2 and 3 beforehand the installation to the
harddisk, because I could not eject the CD, although the installer asked for a
new CD.

Starting the game with
cd ~/.wine/drive_c/games/gothic2/System
wine gothic2.exe
will result in a 100% CPU-load for about 3 seconds, then drops back to normal
and gives a new prompt, without changing screen resolution, or printing error
messages.
