Using wine 1.3.5, 1.3.6 and 1.3.7 Alien Swarm hangs when trying to create a
game or join a game. Using 1.3.4 and previous versions it works. Tried on
normal wineprefix and clean wineprefix.

I can't even reach the loding screen, it hangs when there is a circle and the
message "Creating game" appears.

Maybe out bugs are slightly different.
I cannot play the game with 1.3.4 and its all the time hanging first for a few
seconds( the circle is not spinning). Then it drops to the desktop

solved for me with workaround in http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25256

by setting:

gameoverlayrenderer.dll=disabled

Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2, WineSkin 2.5, Wine 1.3.3.2.
Same problem. Please, confirm this bug.
Maybe it can be fixed via one of winetricks?

I tested many versions of Wine, and now I know that there is an error in

Works fine for me in 1.2, 1.3.8 and 1.3.32, steam from winetricks (so,
gameoverlayrenderer was disabled).

At least please check if the problem persists in a recent wine version (1.6-rc1
or later).
