I have the same issue, but the output is slightly different on my computer, so

With today's Git (wine-1.1.8-120-g706b29c), starting the demo for the first
time results in a crash, but the second run allows the demo to get further,
although the menu screen does not show up.

Still crashes everytime for me with wine 1.1.29

OS: Puppy Linux 4.x (specifically puppies-431.1-main-Xserver.iso)
kernel 2.6.30.5
xorg_xorg_full_dri-7.3
NVIDIA-190.42-k2.6.30.5
wine-1.1.40-i486

When installing, terminal log mentions 'fusion.dll'. Google results indicate an
association with Microsoft dotnet.

Used wine config to set windows version to 2000. Ran 'wineticks dotnet20' in
terminal.

Game installs. Launching game, it mentions an older video driver may crash
game. Loading game takes several minutes, but it does run.

The issue has been reported as fixed two years ago. Shouldnt this be closed as
fixed ?
