LOG from the terminal

OS: Ubuntu 10.04 64bit
Wine 1.1.42 and 1.1.43 (tried Windows XP and Windows 7 compatibility mode)
trying to run PhotoScape v3.40
Problem: PhotoScape is unable to save or edit any files/images. It looks like
it's running just with read only permission.
Solution: Downgrade to Wine 1.1.31

I can't confirm this bug report. To be sure, i do it correctly:

1. Opened some PNG image
 2. Did resize to 50%
 3. Save as another image.

Tested and works for me under 1.1.43, 1.1.44-19-gd2a0188.

You do it right, but there may be other variable, bacause in this thread the

I did a test in Ubuntu 9.10 and PhotoScape works with Wine v1.1.44, in Ubuntu
10.04 it doesn't work, last working version is v1.1.31, so it might be Ubuntu
related bug.

I did that, but after first bisect and recompilation Wine just crashes, so I'm
unable to find last working version with this method, because any other
recompiled version doesn't work. Should I post the result anyway?

No, you should investigate why your compiled wine crashes. Use the
forum/wine-users for help.

Hi a user on the user-forum reported trouble with this app as well. My guess is
the regression is from wine-1.1.38 because as of that version wine uses builtin
gdiplus, and PhotoScape comes with it's own gdiplus so native gdiplus was used
in earlier versions.

Steps i took to reproduce this bug:

1. Get
http://software-files-l.cnet.com/s/software/11/42/42/76/PhotoScapeSetup_V3.5...
2. Install and run the app.
3. Click "Viewer" from topmenu and select a foto on your disk.
4. Select "Editor" from topmenu, click on the foto in the leftwindow, then
select an action,like "resize to 100 px", perform the action.
5. Try to save the resized foto. Beware, select the upper button! The middle
button seems to work fine.

With native gdiplus the bug is gone

Log was massive, so I took only the lines after the save dialog appeared. Still
in wine-1.3.29-198-gfc2dcd0.

No regression test, and likely a false regression, after gdiplus defaulted to
builtin. Removing regression keyword.

This seems to work fine with wine-8.20, probably because encoders were
implemented.
