Summary: Eudora 7.1.0.9 several bugs related to Wine Product: WineHQ Bugzilla Version: unspecified Platform: PC URL: http://www.eudora.com/ OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: bugzilla-unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: winebugz@wendy.org CC: dank@kegel.com
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #13429 +++
It was and still is not possible to enter Eudora in paid mode. I have paid for my Eudora Pro (for over 10 years, more than 1 copy, also for many colleagues), but since I moved from Windows XP to Ubuntu, I'm working in sponsor mode. Which has a pesky irritating window reminding me about working in sponsor mode...
The pesky window just says "Eudora" in the window body. The window has no title. The window can be moved around in the main Eudora window, but it is always "on top", so also over any opened mailbox or email message, or over the list of filters.
The pesky window forces Eudora to move its main window. That means, all other windows with mailboxes and email messages are repositioned, and horizontal and vertical scroll bars appear in the Eudora main window. It is irritating.

--- Comment #1 from Wendy winebugz@wendy.org 2008-05-26 03:27:55 --- Eudora 8 is in no way related to Eudora 7.1.0.9. It is an adaptation to Thunderbird.

--- Comment #4 from Wendy winebugz@wendy.org 2009-05-29 04:58:05 --- Wine version 1.1.20, Ubuntu 9.04, Eudora 7.1.0.9 The problem still exists. The program demands I enter my registration code to be able to go from sponsor mode to paid mode.
1. I open many "Help" and select "Payment & Registration". 2. I click on the button "Enter your code". 3. I enter my first name and last name, and the code, in the appropriate fields. 4. The code is not accepted. I click on a button that says "I lost the code". 5. A browser is opened, where I have to enter my first name, last name and email address. I am asked a question (like "Where were you born"), I enter the correct answer, and I am recognized as a paying customer. I am told an email will be sent with the correct code. 6. I check my mail. The mail is received. Eudora recognizes this as a registration information mail with the code, uses the code, and tells me it is not the correct code. 7. I can than enter my data manually (even though the program already did that, but just to be sure), and we are back at step 3, all the way to this last one.
It's not possible to contact Qualcomm about this, there is no reaction from them (except that the mail addresses do not exist, and mail to other departments yield no reaction at all).
Anybody an idea how to solve this? Never had the problem in Win98, WinXP of WinVista.

--- Comment #5 from Wendy winebugz@wendy.org 2009-05-29 04:59:12 --- Oops. Step 1 should start with 1. I open menu "Help"... (not "many")

--- Comment #8 from MestreLion wine@rodrigosilva.com 2011-06-29 18:56:13 CDT --- Its been some years since Paid Mode = Sponsored Mode. There are no ads now since Qualcomm dropped support for Eudora. The ad box is greyed out with Eudora logo, and you have full features of Paid Mode. So IMHO this bug is not an issue anymore.
