Waiting for the updated wine_gecko.

--- Comment #11 from foobard jens@porup.com 2008-04-16 14:16:21 --- I attempted to download the trial version of Acrobat Pro 8 from the adobe web site listed here:
http://wiki.winehq.org/AdobeAcrobatPro
After registering and procedding to download the program, Adobe gives me an error message saying I need to first download and install the Adobe Download Manager, which uses either ActiveX, Java, or both (not clear). I can't seem to find a stand-alone link to download this program anywhere. Without it installed and working, Adobe won't let you download the trial version.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9519
--- Comment #12 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2008-04-16 14:34:21 --- Adobe's download help document says they use the Akamai download manager for all files larger than 1GB. Maybe they've lowered that number recently.
When I went to that link, it happily automatically started the download manager; it's a Java applet. So install / enable Java on your linux box, make sure you can run applets, and you should be fine.
(Last resort: in bug 11719, which also involved the akamai download manager, I found that the real URL was left behind in a data file -- at least if you were installing inside wine. )

--- Comment #13 from foobard jens@porup.com 2008-04-16 15:15:27 --- Interesting. package sun-java6-jre is installed on my ubuntu box, and java enabled in Firefox Preferences. I also checked the Sun Java Plugin Control Panel, but everything was activited. I switched to Opera, though, and now it's downloading.
Weird.

Well, I downloaded and attempted to install the trial version of Acrobat Pro 8.
What happens is this: A msgbox appears telling me it's installing. The status bar goes all the way to 100%, then goes away. But nothing is installed in the .wine/.../Adobe/ directory, nor is anything added to the wine GUI menu.
No GUI error messages, nothing. Just doesn't do anything.
+msi,+msidb log attached.

I've just tried to install Acrobat Reader 8, and the experience was almost identical to that of Acrobat Pro 8, except that the status bar reached 100% a lot faster and the log file is a lot smaller.
Here's the relevant bit where it dies at the end:

So, confirm in 1.1.2.
